The Bismarck Lady Lions had a monumental task in front of them in the first round of the 3A state tournament at Riverview High School in Searcy.
They had drawn Greenland, one of the best 3A girls’ teams in the state.
Bismarck gave a valiant effort, but in the end, Greenland was too much, winning the game 51-22.
A slow start led to the Lady Lions’ eventual downfall, as Bismarck scored just four points in each of the first two quarters (as well as the fourth).
At the end of the first quarter, Bismarck trailed 11-4, but were still in striking range.
The second quarter, however, but a stop to that thought as Greenland took a 24-8 lead into the halftime break.
Heading into the fourth quarter, Bismarck trailed 39-18, thanks to a barrage of three-pointers by Greenland.
Addison Crow led the Lady Lions with 10 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Baleigh Vinson added seven points, two rebounds and a steal.
Jimmilee Smith scored two points and had four rebounds and a steal.
Lindsey Burton also scored two points after coming in late in the game.
Kyndall Easterling rounded out the scoring for Bismarck with one point. She also had four rebounds.
The loss brings an end to the Bismarck Lady Lions’ season. They finish with a 13-11 record on the year.
