When the oppressive heat of summer hits, the last thing you want to do is be out in the weather exerting yourself.
But with football camps, I see it from another perspective. After being deprived of the sport for six months, I will take any football I can get.
I feel for the players out on the field, I really do. I couldn’t imagine putting on all the gear they have to wear as they run in full-speed contact drills.
I’ve even had a moment or two where the heat was seeming like it was getting to be a bit much for me —and I was just wearing slacks and a nice short-sleeved shirt. Any time I start feeling a little too overheated, I’ll glance over to one of the football players and I get a glimpse of what being overheated truly is.
