Arkansas State's Brady to resign at end of basketball season

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State men's basketball coach John Brady says he will resign as the Red Wolves' coach at the end of the season.

The university's athletic director Terry Mohajir (muh-HAH'-jur) made the announcement Monday night after the Red Wolves' 81-37 win over Lyon College.

Brady told reporters after Monday's game that he resigned because he's in his final year of his contract and he did not want to force Mohajir to decide whether to extend it.

Brady came to Arkansas State in 2008 after he was fired from LSU, where he'd served as head coach for 11 seasons. At Arkansas State, Brady guided the Red Wolves to two Sun Belt Conference West Division championships but the team has not qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
