– Governor Asa Hutchinson met with media today at the Governor’s Mansion to discuss his upcoming European business recruitment mission. Governor Hutchinson departs Little Rock Saturday, June 13 and returns Friday, June 19.

The Governor will travel first to Paris, France to meet with prospective companies at the Paris Air Show, the world’s largest aviation and aerospace trade show. Arkansas has a booth at the show in which representatives of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Arkansas aerospace companies, airports and economic development partners will meet with aerospace companies from throughout the world.

In addition to meeting several prospective companies at the Paris Air Show, Governor Hutchinson will also meet with leadership of aerospace companies that already have a presence in Arkansas such as Dassault Falcon and Lockheed Martin.

He will also attend the METEC International Metallurgical Trade Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. METEC is an exhibition event for steel technology held once every four years.

By visiting the show, the Governor will make valuable contacts that will benefit Arkansas’s growing metals sector, specifically the steel industry. More than 486 exhibitors from 33 countries and more than 19,000 visitors attended the 2011 METEC trade fair.

Governor Hutchinson has meetings scheduled with senior representatives of 17 different companies. He will meet with numerous others during the two trade shows and other scheduled venues.
