When 11 ladies in the Hot Springs area decided to sell their handmade crafts, who knew it would lead to the annual Hot Springs Arts and Crafts Fair.
Each year the Garland County Extension Homemakers Council sponsors the annual event at the Garland County Fairgrounds.
These first 11 ladies had a vision, which now includes artists and crafters from more than nine states and more than 300 vendors.
The 2019 Hot Springs Arts and Crafts Fair is the 51st annual event and will be held Friday, October 4 through Sunday, October 6. Doors will be open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The Extension Homemakers Council will have an open kitchen at the fairgrounds. The kitchen menu includes, homemade ham and beans dinner, chili, chicken salad, chocolate and oatmeal cake, donut holes, hamburgers, french fries, hot dogs, nachos, coffee, tea, soda and water. Shoppers can enjoy meals in an air conditioned building with table and chairs. There are 25 new vendors to the fair this year. Vendors have a variety of handcrafted items including jewelry, soap, candles, clothing, wood, glass, metal, live mums, hand-sewn items, quilts, knitted and crocheted hats and scarves, dog clothes, cookies, cupcakes, peanut brittle, home and yard decor, and much more.
The Extension Homemakers Council Country Store will be open during the event. The Country Store is for Council members to sell their crafts and showcase the crafts they make throughout the year.
