Man pleads guilty in Baker's death

James Lee Goff, age 27 from Garland County, pled guilty on Tuesday, May 24, to driving while intoxicated and negligent homicide, stemming from an incident on Aug 19, 2015 in Hot Springs. According to the criminal information available on the Arkansas Court Connect website, Goff was charged with negligently causing the death of William Don Baker of Malvern as a result of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Baker, 77, was crossing Central Avenue as a pedestrian when struck by Goff. The Garland County Circuit Court sentenced Goff to 12 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and ordered Goff to pay court costs of $820.
