Panthers shine big in conference opener over England, 56-26

The Magnet Cove Panthers (3-1 overall, 1-0 conf.) continue to rack up high scoring affairs on the gridiron by crushing the England Lions (1-3 overall, 0-1 conf.) 56-26 Friday, September 27, 2019 in their 5-2A Conference opener in England.
The Panthers held a 21-20 lead over England at halftime. But in the second half, the Panthers built momentum and ran up the score board by making three trips into the end zone in the third quarter, then two more in the fourth to prevail for the 30-point victory.
The Panthers racked up 123 yards passing for one touchdown reception, accounted 436 yards rushing for seven TD trips into the end zone on 27 carries for 559 total yards of offense. Defensively, the Panthers racked up 61 total team tackles, with an interception and three fumble recoveries.
Quarterback Tyler Hodges went 8-for-15 for 123 yards passing for one TD and had nine carries for 255 yards rushing for five touchdowns. Landon Stone had 17 carries for 175 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns to spark on the Panthers ground attack against the Lions. Defensively, Logan Walker racked up 13 tackles, Jacob Hawthorn and Levi Horton each had eight tackles apiece, and Stone had seven tackles.
The Panthers have won their last three games to roll on a three game-winning streak. This Friday, October 4, 2019 the Panthers return home for another huge conference battle to host the unbeaten Poyen Indians (4-0 overall, 1-0 conf.) at Kenneth W. Hammons Stadium. Kickoff is set at 7 p.m.
