Suspect's heart monitor found in burglarized store

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (AP) — A southeast Missouri suspect is in custody after his heart monitor was found inside a burglarized auto parts store.

The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic reports that the 23-year-old suspect is jailed on suspicion of second-degree burglary and stealing. Formal charges have not been filed.

Police responded to a NAPA Auto Parts store in Poplar Bluff at 1:55 a.m. Saturday after an alarm sounded. An officer saw the store's glass door was broken and noticed blood on the grass.

Officers soon spotted a man walking with blood on his pants. The suspect gave differing accounts about what caused the blood.

As the suspect was being questioned, he realized he was missing his heart monitor. An officer found a heart monitor inside the store, in front of the cash register.
